Fun Things to Do in Wimberley
Peer into Jacob’s Well.
Jacob’s Well is a stunning, picturesque artesian spring that is fed by the Trinity Aquifer that features a 140-foot deep, fully submerged cave.
It’s a magnificent sight, and while it was once one of the most iconic swimming holes in Texas, these days, it’s closed to swimming… and still worth a stop when visiting Wimberley!
As a small silver lining, now that swimming is forbidden indefinitely, the well is much less crowded than it once was–and you can explore the 81-acre park for free, including viewing the well from above.
You can get more details about visiting in our guide to Jacob’s Well!

Browse Wimberley’s downtown boutiques.
Downtown Wimberley is packed with unique local shops and boutiques that you won’t find anywhere else, and exploring them is one of the best things to do in Wimberley!
Whether you’re looking for kitchen gadgets (Kiss the Cook), interesting home decor (Shelter Goods), eclectic costumes (The Bazaar), or clothing (Annie James), you’ll find plenty of places to browse downtown.
If you’re looking for a unique Texas souvenir, you can’t go wrong with a shopping trip to Wimberley!

… and art galleries.
What’s an artsy town without plenty of places to enjoy art?
There are several galleries and studios worth stopping into in Wimberley–a few favorites include Wildflower Art Gallery, Wimberley Glassworks, and Art on 12.

Go for a swim in the Blue Hole.
Easily the second-most famous place in Wimberley (right behind Jacob’s Well), the Blue Hole is a naturally occurring and incredibly popular swimming hole–and you’ll need to make reservations in advance to swim there!
It’s worth the effort to experience one of the most fun things to do in Wimberley, though: the beautiful blue-green waters of Cypress Creek framed by the bald cypress trees that line the river make for a magnificent environment to enjoy.

Check out a Wimberley Market Day.
With nearly 500 booths, Wimberley boasts the largest flea market in the Texas Hill Country!
Wimberley Market Days are held on the first Saturday of each month.
Climb Mount Baldy, aka Prayer Mountain.
“Mountain” is a slight overstatement–Old Baldy is an 1182-foot hill–but this beautiful viewpoint is worth the 218-step limestone staircase you need to climb to enjoy it!
The staircase is lined with painted rocks, featuring everything from colorful patterns and messages promoting spreading kindness in the world to Bible quotes, hence its nickname of Prayer Mountain.

Zipline through the Hill Country.
Hoping for a unique view of the Hill Country?
Consider zipping through the trees with Wimberley Zipline Adventures!
Admire the many painted boots of Wimberley, Texas.
All across Wimberley, you’ll find pieces of a collection of 50 intricately painted statues of cowboy boots–each one completely unique!
The Bootiful Wimberley project (love that pun) was launched in 2014 and has continued to expand over the last decade.
Want to see as many boots as possible? The Boot Trail Map will lead you to all of the boots currently on display!

Enjoy the beauty of Cypress Creek.
Can’t score reservations to swim at the Blue Hole before your trip to Wimberley?
No worries–the Cypress Falls Swimming Hole is also beautiful and doesn’t require reservations.
Stroll through a Pioneer Town.
This whimsical Pioneer Town is built to look like a 19th-century western town, and visiting belongs on any list of things to do in Wimberley!
Complete with essentials like an ice cream parlor and dance hall on-site, the town is not just photogenic, it’s part of the 7A Ranch, a beautiful, family-friendly resort on the Blanco River that happens to be one of the best places to stay in Wimberley!
Check availability & rates for cabins at the 7A Ranch today!

Check out the Wimberley Valley Museum.
Located in the historic Winters-Wimberley House, this house museum in Wimberley tells the story of the early settlers to the area.
Standard opoening hours are very limited (10:00 AM – 4:00 PM on the first and third Saturday of each month, as of June 2025), but you can also make a reservation to access the museum another day.
The museum is free to visit, though donations are appreciated.
Head out for a wine tasting.
It wouldn’t be a Hill Country getaway without a bit of wine tourism!
The Wimberley Valley Winery offers tastings in a beautiful setting.
The Hill Country Wine Shoppe, located right in the town square, is also a great stop for wine lovers.
